ALASTOR PRESS

Ola Hansson is perhaps our foremost Swedish decadent. He was born in 1860 in Hönsinge, Scania, moved around Europe for many years and finally died in 1925 in Buyukdere, near Constantinople.

In Tidens kvinnor he directs his hypersensitive gaze towards a number of turn-of-the-century women and writes a kind of case studies of them. The six portraits are, however, bound together by a peculiar metaphor. All of these sexually obsessed and spiritually distorted women are compared to flowers that for various reasons have been forced to grow unhealthy or sickly.
